Driouech breaks silence on £7m Rangers collapse: 'rollercoaster'

Couhaib Driouech admits seeing his £7million transfer to Rangers collapse at the last minute was a "rollercoaster of emotions".

The PSV Eindhoven star reveals that disagreements between the respective club's medical teams were the reason for the big-money move dramatically falling through.

Medical Disagreement Behind Collapse

Driouech had agreed personal terms over a switch to Ibrox and was in the stadium to watch the 1-1 draw with Jagiellonia Bialystok that saw Rangers crash out of the Europa League and drop into the Conference League play-off.

Despite the Light Blues' concerns about his fitness, the 24-year-old was snapped taking part in full training with PSV ahead of their league clash against Groningen on Sunday.

Driouech's Response

Speaking to ESPN in the Netherlands, Driouech concedes he was disappointed not to complete the transfer, having viewed the move as a 'great step' in his career.

When asked about the ordeal, he replied: "It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but I am back. There was a disagreement between the doctors. I had a small tear in my thigh. It was made worse because I took a knock to the knee that week, and that turned into a hematoma. I feel good and am back on the pitch. I have no influence on what they decided there."

"I would have considered it a great step. It's a shame, but I'm also happy to be back. You're basically already there in your head. You already see yourself playing in a different kit, but it's not the first time this has happened to me. It sucks, but that's just how it is."

Future Uncertain

Ex-Feyenoord striker Harry van der Laan has urged his old club to make a move for the wide man, and Driouech admits his future at the Philips Stadion is very much still up in the air.

"I'm just waiting to see what happens", he added. "If anything comes up, I'll deal with it. It is still uncertain. I am just happy to be here and I am doing well at PSV. I am also forever grateful to the club. As long as I am here, I am happy to be a PSV player."
