Dog dies, man injured in Maesteg dog attacks

Police are investigating a series of dog attacks in Maesteg in which one dog died and a man was seriously injured.

Late on Friday evening, a man was walking his dog on the path behind Railway Terrace in the Caerau area when three off-lead bully-type dogs attacked his dog. His dog died the following day from its injuries.

Second attack on same path

The following morning, at around 6am on Saturday, a couple walking their dog on the same path encountered a pack of three dogs of the same description.

In defending his dog and his partner, a man was bitten a number of times by one of the dogs. He suffered serious injuries to his arm which required emergency medical attention. His dog and partner suffered minor injuries.

Police enquiries ongoing

Police say they are aware of each incident and that their enquiries remain ongoing. They are yet to identify those responsible for the animals.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police is aware of two separate dog attacks that have happened in the Maesteg area over the last week."

"Enquiries are ongoing, including house-to-house enquiries and the review of any available CCTV footage. Officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the incidents and identify those involved."
