A manhunt is under way after a mother pushing her baby in a pram was fatally stabbed in Bradford. Police are searching for Habibur Masum, 25, in connection with the attack that occurred on Westgate at 15:21 BST on Saturday.
The 27-year-old woman suffered multiple stab wounds and later died in hospital. West Yorkshire Police confirmed her baby was not harmed. A knife was found at the scene, but it is unclear if Masum is armed.
Masum is believed to be known to the victim, though their relationship has not been confirmed. He is from the Oldham area and described as Asian with a slim build. CCTV images show him wearing a duffle coat with three horizontal lines in grey, white and black, light blue or grey tracksuit bottoms with a small black emblem on the left pocket, and maroon trainers. A witness also reported seeing him in a grey hoody with the hood up after the incident at the junction with Drewton Road.
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson urged the public not to approach Masum but to call 999 immediately. He is also believed to have links to Burnley and Chester. Atkinson said the death of a young woman in such shocking circumstances has caused considerable concern in the community, and residents can expect to see more police officers in Bradford.
