Cyclist Life-Threatening After A48 Bus Crash

A cyclist is in a life-threatening condition following a serious collision with a bus on the A48 in Pwllmeyric, near Chepstow, on Tuesday morning. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6am.

Emergency Response

The Wales Air Ambulance was dispatched alongside Gwent Police officers and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service. A police spokeswoman confirmed the cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment and remains in a life-threatening condition.

Road Closure

The A48 remains closed in both directions near Marlow Vets while investigations are carried out. Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area, and queues on surrounding routes have been reported.

Police Statement

A Gwent Police statement said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A48 at around 6am on Tuesday, July 7. Officers attended alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Service. The collision involved a bicycle and a bus; the cyclist has been taken to hospital for treatment and remains in a life-threatening condition. The road remains closed at this time."
