Celtic principal shareholder Dermot Desmond was targeted by fans in balaclavas during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews. The Irishman and his son Ross are competing in the event, which features celebrities and professional players.
Tennis balls thrown on 15th hole
A group lobbed tennis balls with imagery of Desmond on them at the Celtic chief as he played the 15th hole alongside US golfer Brooks Koepka. Images have also surfaced of Desmond being escorted off the 18th hole by security after he continued to play.
Ongoing fan anger
Desmond and the Celtic board have faced a series of protests over the past year. The Green Brigade ultras group were locked out for five months last season, while the Celtic Fans Collective urged fans not to renew season tickets for the new campaign.
After a sluggish start to the new season and another Champions League playoff flop, anger has continued among the fan base, with supporters now taking their frustration directly to Desmond.
