A 44-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife at their rural property in Woodhill, south of Brisbane. The man called emergency services on Thursday morning to report his wife's death, which paramedics initially described as a 'farm machinery incident'.
Police arrived at the scene at 9.15am on Thursday and found the 41-year-old woman dead. The man has been charged with murder (domestic violence offence) and interfering with a corpse. Detective Inspector Chris Knight confirmed the pair were married and had two teenage children.
Knight alleged there were factors suggesting 'manipulation of the crime scene' and that domestic violence history would be investigated. Police seized a sedan and a farm tractor from the property, which includes sugar cane, animals, and multiple dams to be searched.
The property is described as a complex crime scene with multiple structures, farm equipment, and heavy ground cover. About 50 volunteers assisted police search coordinators as of Friday morning. The man has been refused bail and was due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
