A six-year-old boy is in hospital after being hit by a car in a Scots town.
Emergency services raced to the collision on Bighty Road in Glenrothes, Fife, after receiving the alarm at 8.50am on Friday, August 28. Crews attended and the child was found injured.
He was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where his current condition is unknown. Images taken from the scene show police in attendance.
Police and ambulance response
Officers say inquiries into the incident are ongoing. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.50am on Friday August 28 2026, police received a report of a crash involving a child and a car on Bighty Road, Glenrothes. The six-year-old boy was taken to hospital and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 8.44am to attend a road traffic collision on Bighty Avenue, Glenrothes. We dispatched an ambulance to the scene, and we transported one patient to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy."

The boy's current condition remains unknown, and police inquiries into the incident are continuing.
