Three individuals, including a 16-year-old boy, have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Newcastle. The incident occurred on Shields Road in the Byker area, prompting a police investigation.
Details of the Incident
Northumbria Police responded to a report of an assault at approximately 7:25 PM on Tuesday evening. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 20s suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his wounds shortly thereafter.
Two men, aged 24 and 22, along with the teenage boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. A section of Shields Road has been cordoned off as forensic teams continue their inquiries.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Atherton expressed condolences to the victim's family, stating: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are firmly with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life. We will offer them all of the support we can and would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
He added: "We have launched a full investigation into the circumstances around the man's death and arrested three people on suspicion of murder. We would like to reassure those in the local community that our officers remain in the area to carry out a wide range of enquiries to ascertain exactly what happened."
Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward. "Your information could be of vital importance towards our investigation," DCI Atherton emphasized.
The road closure is expected to remain in place while police conduct their work. The investigation is ongoing.
