BMW driver killed, four injured in Woodhead Pass crash

A BMW driver has died and four people have been seriously injured in a crash near Woodhead Pass. The incident occurred on the A628 Manchester Road in Tintwistle at 9.50pm on Monday, August 3.

The BMW driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed, according to Derbyshire Police.

Injuries and hospitalisation

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz involved in the crash suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Three passengers in the BMW also sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital from the scene.

Road closure and investigation

The A628 was closed between the A57 Mottram Moor and the A616 Flouch roundabout, including Woodhead Pass. The cordon has since been reduced to Manchester Road, between Mottram Moor and Old Road, in Tintwistle.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash and are urging witnesses to come forward. Anyone with dashcam footage is also asked to contact authorities.
