Mark "Bruni" Brown, president of the Mad Dogs Motorcycle Club, has spoken out after he and fellow bikers were attacked with swords and bats on the M74 in Scotland, calling the attackers "masked and heavily armed cowards". The 63-year-old was hospitalised following the incident on Sunday, which is under investigation by Police Scotland.
Attack on the M74
Officers were dispatched to the M74 near Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, after a reported brawl. In a now-removed social media post, Brown wrote: "A bit of background to what has been going on with the dogs. This is NOT rumours or bulls***, just straight facts."
He claimed they were attacked by 12 masked individuals with swords, bats, and other weapons. Brown wrote: "Here's their version, 'We are all in hospital and some of us are dead'. Clearly not, you incompetent cowards. You know what, we're still standing and always will be!"
Background of Feud
The post referenced previous altercations. Last month, Brown thanked supporters, and the attack comes amid a feud with the Blue Angels, Scotland's oldest outlaw motorcycle club. Just 10 days earlier, Mad Dogs members were attacked outside a pub.
Brown fears a connection to the Blue Angels in both attacks, but sources within the biker community have doubts. One individual said: "There's a long-running feud between Bruni and other Mad Dogs members and the Blue Angels, that's no secret, and there have been plenty of incidents between them. But there's question marks over this one."
Police Appeal
Police have appealed for information about a red Mazda used in the attack, later found in Ayrshire. Bystanders were left shaken. Detective Sergeant Craig Wait said: "We believe this was a targeted attack on the group of motorcyclists and it's vital we trace the people responsible."
