Barry Road Closed After Assault, Man Arrested

A road in Barry remains closed more than 12 hours after a police incident in which a man suffered a serious head injury. The alleged assault occurred on Skomer Road at approximately 11:20pm on Friday, July 17.

Victim and Arrest

A 43-year-old man from Barry has been taken to hospital with a significant head injury. A 30-year-old man from Barry has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He is currently in police custody, according to a statement from South Wales Police.

Ongoing Road Closure

According to Google Maps and a local business, the road closure remains in place as of Saturday afternoon. The incident has disrupted traffic in the area since around 11pm on Friday.

Police Appeal

South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses. A force spokesman said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following an assault which took place on Skomer Road, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan at around 11:20pm yesterday (Friday July 17)."
