Armed police called to Salford shop over burglary report

Armed officers were dispatched to a Caribbean supermarket in Salford on the night of October 3 following reports of an aggravated burglary involving a weapon, but no firearm was discovered at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police were called to Great Cheetham Street East at around 9.30pm on Saturday 3 October 2026. Witnesses said neighbouring businesses were forced to close as officers arrived. Images from the scene show police cars parked outside Ades Caribbean food store.

Suspects gone on arrival

Officers attended the premises as a priority response, but the suspects had already left. No arrests have been made, and enquiries are ongoing. It is understood that nothing was believed to have been taken during the incident.

Due to the initial report of a firearm, specialist firearms officers attended, but no weapon was found, the force said.

Police appeal for information

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday 3 October 2026 to reports of an aggravated burglary at a premises on Great Cheetham Street East, Salford.

"Officers attended as a priority response however the suspects had left the scene. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
