Lillian Droniak, a 96-year-old Instagram star known as Grandma Droniak, claims she faces eviction from her Connecticut nursing home after repeatedly hosting wild parties with loud music and heavy drinking. In a viral video, she read a warning letter stating that parties are not allowed and that serving alcohol to other residents is prohibited. The letter served as a final warning.
Defiant Response to Warning
Droniak, who has nearly 13 million followers, dismissed the rules, declaring, "I can do whatever I want. I pay $12,000 a month to live here and I can party if I want to. We're going to drink and gossip. It's not a party, but we do get rowdy. I can't help it. I love to party! You can't stop me!" Her defiance has endeared her to fans, but the nursing home management has threatened eviction if she continues.
Rise to Fame
Droniak's antics have made her one of the internet's most popular senior celebrities. Despite her party-loving persona, she described herself in a 2022 Guardian article as a quiet child who worked in a factory before raising a family. She never expected to become an internet celebrity, stating that making people laugh "had never been my area."
Coping with Lockdown
She started making videos during lockdown to cope with isolation when her usual activities—bingo, church visits, cruises, and senior events—were halted. "Making these videos makes me feel younger, too," she wrote. "I might be 92, but only feel 65 when we're filming." Her social media fame became a lucrative side hustle, with brands sending free clothes, handbags, and trainers, and paying her to feature their products.
Advice to Younger Followers
Droniak regularly gives relationship advice to younger followers, offering simple wisdom: "Don't smoke cigarettes, dump your boyfriend, love yourself and don't drink every day." Despite the eviction threat, she remains unapologetic about her lifestyle, insisting that no one will stop her from having a good time.
