Police in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, have arrested two men after a woman was allegedly gang raped and the attack was filmed and shared with others.
Attack and Arrests
The woman was out with a male friend when they were confronted by two unknown men. The suspects allegedly harassed the pair before assaulting them, and then raped the woman while recording the incident on video. Police confirmed that the footage was subsequently sent to other people.
The two suspects, identified as Shakir Ahmed Lone and Mohammed Ashraf, were arrested on Monday, July 27, according to local police. The alleged attack took place on July 25.
Investigation Ongoing
The woman promptly reported the assault to police, leading to an investigation. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, stated that the woman reported being harassed by two men before being assaulted and raped. The suspects fled the scene but were later apprehended and remain in police custody.
Detectives are continuing their investigation, examining forensic evidence and gathering witness reports. Police have not released any further details, including the ages of the two men, as the inquiry remains active.
