The family of Nicola Wright, a 44-year-old pilot killed in a light aircraft crash in Devon, have paid tribute to her as an 'amazing woman' and 'devoted mother'. The incident occurred last Friday when her aircraft went down in a field near Dunkeswell Aerodrome.
Fourth Death at the Site in 12 Months
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that no one else was on board. The Air Accident Investigation Branch is investigating the crash, which marks the fourth death at or near the airfield in just over a year.
Family's Heartfelt Tribute
In a statement, Nicola's family described her as 'an incredible mother to her four children, a wife, daughter, sister and much-loved friend to many. She was the heart of the family and will be missed beyond words.' They highlighted her adventurous spirit, noting she was an accomplished aerobatic pilot, skydiver, diver, and mountaineer who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro earlier this year.
Nicola also served as HR Director at Medisave, a global medical and pharmaceutical distributor, where she helped build the company alongside her husband Graham Wright and longtime friend Melissa Denton.
Appeal for Privacy
The family requested privacy during their grief and asked for no speculation about the accident while investigations continue.
