Scottish Rugby CEO sacked over inappropriate conduct

Scottish Rugby has dismissed chief executive Alex Williamson with immediate effect following an independent investigation into his conduct.

Appointment and suspension

Williamson was appointed to the role in September 2024 and placed on “extended leave” in May 2025.

The governing body announced on Thursday that Williamson had been dismissed after the board considered the findings of an investigation into matters brought to its attention earlier this year.
