John Hunt's Silent Auction for Family Fund After Crossbow Tragedy
John Hunt's Silent Auction for Family Fund

BBC racing commentator John Hunt has launched a poignant fundraising initiative, a silent auction, dedicated to the memory of his wife and two daughters who were murdered in a horrific crossbow attack.

A Family Tragedy Remembered

The lives of Carol Hunt, 61, and her daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were tragically cut short in July last year at their family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. The court heard how Louise’s ex-boyfriend, Kyle Clifford, fatally stabbed Carol, raped Louise, and then used a crossbow to kill both sisters. Clifford was later jailed for life in March.

In response to the unimaginable loss, John Hunt and his surviving daughter, Amy, have established the Hunt Family Fund. The fund has been created to raise money for charities and causes that help and inspire young women, reflecting the passions of Carol, Hannah, and Louise.

Spectacular Auction Lots for a Cause

The special online silent auction features more than 25 unique lots and incredible experiences donated by supporters. Sports fans can bid on a behind-the-scenes visit to BBC's Match of the Day or Sky’s Monday Night Football. Other standout prizes include:

  • An England Six Nations hospitality package.
  • Tickets to see England v New Zealand at Lords, including a visit to the Test Match Special box.
  • A guided tour of Michael Owen's Racing Stables led by the former Liverpool and England striker himself.
  • A chance to watch West Ham United train.

How to Support the Hunt Family Fund

John Hunt expressed the profound meaning behind the event, stating, “This is a great way to provide support to a number of causes which would have been dear to Carol, Hannah and Louise and reflect the love, care and positivity they radiated to the world.” He added, “We're so grateful to all those who have donated prizes and hope as many people as possible will get involved in making generous bids.”

The silent auction went live on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, and will conclude on the evening of Thursday, December 11, 2025. Members of the public are encouraged to participate and place their bids to support the fund via the official auction website.
