Byker Pub to Host Memorial for Alleged Murder Victim Gino Robb
Byker Pub Memorial for Gino Robb

The Raby pub in Byker, Newcastle, will hold a memorial event to celebrate the life of Gino Robb, a 25-year-old man who died following a suspected stabbing on Shields Road. The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, prompting a large police cordon and a murder investigation by Northumbria Police.

Community Grief and Pub Response

Staff at The Raby were called into action when Gino Robb, seriously injured, entered the pub seeking medical assistance before paramedics arrived. He was treated at the scene and transported to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), where he died shortly after. The pub has remained closed since the incident as a mark of respect and will reopen on Tuesday, June 23, for the memorial.

A post on the pub's Facebook page stated: "The Raby will remain closed until Tuesday as a mark of respect. On Tuesday, we will be gathering at The Raby to celebrate Gino's life and share a drink in his memory. Everybody is welcome to come along, pay their respects, share memories, and celebrate the life of someone who meant so much to our community." The time of the memorial has yet to be confirmed.

Three additional individuals—two men aged 40 and 33, and a boy aged 16—were arrested in the Walker area on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The 40-year-old has been released on police bail, while the 33-year-old man and the 16-year-old boy remained in police custody as of Friday.

The community has been left heartbroken by the loss, and the memorial aims to honor a life that "meant so much."
