A body has been discovered during the search for a missing man believed to have gone rock climbing before vanishing on Wednesday, August 5. The search for Pembrokeshire man Ben, a resident of St Davids, ended in tragedy on Thursday, August 6, when a body was located in the Caer Bwdy coastal region of Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Formal identification pending
Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed the discovery in a statement issued on Thursday evening. The force said: "Formal identification has not yet taken place, and while the family have been informed of this development, we are not in a position to confirm the identity of the deceased at this time. They are being supported by specially trained officers."
The statement added: "We ask that the family's privacy is respected while enquiries continue."
Search details
The 47-year-old is understood to have left his St Davids residence on Wednesday, August 5, at approximately midday, with plans to go rock climbing. He was believed to be heading towards either the Carreg y Barcud vicinity, close to Trelerw, or Caer Bwdy Bay, situated outside St Davids in Pembrokeshire.
Concerns were raised after Ben's family failed to make contact with him for several hours, prompting emergency services to be alerted. Both Coastguard vessels and helicopters participated in the search efforts.
