Two Women Killed in Early Morning Border Collision

A devastating car crash on the border between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire has resulted in the deaths of two young women and left a nine-year-old boy with life-changing injuries.

The collision occurred at approximately 6.20am on Thursday on Common Lane in the village of Pleasley. It involved a Vauxhall Meriva and a Suzuki Alto.

Arrest Made and Serious Injuries Confirmed

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Due to injuries he sustained in the crash, he was taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard.

Tragically, the two women, both in their 20s and travelling in the Suzuki Alto, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their families have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

The nine-year-old boy, a passenger in the Suzuki, was rushed to hospital with what authorities describe as life-changing injuries.

Police Appeal for Witnesses to Horrific Incident

Three men who were in the Vauxhall Meriva were also injured, with two of them sustaining serious wounds.

Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic road traffic accident and are urgently appealing to the public for information.
