Two individuals have been transported to the hospital following a road traffic incident in County Durham where a van overturned. The collision occurred on the B1283 Durham Lane, situated between Shadforth and Haswell Plough, during the Monday morning rush hour.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash at approximately 8:20 AM on June 8. The vehicles involved were a Ford Transit van and a Nissan Qashqai. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were subsequently taken to University Hospital North Durham for medical attention.
Road Closure and Reopening
The B1283 remained closed until after 11:00 AM while the damaged vehicles were removed. The road has since been fully reopened to traffic.
Official Statements
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary stated: 'We were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the B1283 just after 8.20am this morning (June 8). The collision involved a Nissan QashQai car and a Ford Transit van. The fire service and ambulance service also attended. Both drivers were taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.'
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: 'We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Durham Lane in the Ludworth area at 8.13am this morning (8 June). We dispatched two ambulance crews, who transported two patients to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment.'
