A food truck named 'TNT Tacos' exploded last week in Nashville, Tennessee, severely injuring the two owners, Tiffany and Tim McPherson. The couple was preparing for the day's work inside the truck when the blast occurred.
Tiffany described the incident on the couple's GoFundMe page: 'From the force of the explosion, I was blown back against the far wall where our sinks are, and I was trapped.' Her husband Tim, also injured, managed to pull his wife out of the fire and to safety.
The couple was airlifted to a local hospital, where they were treated for severe second and third-degree burns. Tim suffered burns to his legs, hands, stomach, and face, while Tiffany sustained burns to approximately 30% of her body, according to WKRN.
Tiffany praised her husband as a hero: 'Tim could've easily run out but chose to come back and get me and drag me out. He had to go through the explosion that was hell before busting us both through the door and saving our lives.'
Huntingdon Fire Chief John Fordon said the department was called around 10:30 a.m. last week. Firefighters arrived quickly and found Tiffany and Tim rolling on the grass to extinguish the flames.
The community has rallied to raise money for the couple, who will have to rebuild their business. The GoFundMe page has reached over $20,000 in donations. Tiffany issued an update: 'Tim and I are survivors, and we are in the process of surviving. We will always be forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support. Thank you, guys, from the bottom of our hearts.'
The couple was one day away from their 25th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated with hospital food. Their daughter, Jada, said her parents will likely remain in the hospital for a few months for treatment. Jada noted the explosion happened as her father was trying to light the grill, but the cause is still under investigation.
