School bus crashes into German home, 20 injured

At least 20 people are believed to have been injured after a school bus packed with children crashed into the living room of a residential building in northern Germany on Friday morning. Four people were seriously injured, while 16 others suffered minor injuries, according to local reports.

Crash in Bad Oldesloe

The bus ploughed into the building in Bad Oldesloe, Schleswig-Holstein, at around 7.20am. It reportedly drove over a roundabout and into the living room of the residential property. A number of passengers and the driver of the bus were trapped in the wreckage following the incident.

The bus also scratched the side of a car as it careened off the road, local outlet News5 reported. Children are believed to be among those hurt, though the bus was also carrying adults.

Emergency response

Emergency services swarmed the scene and a mass casualty incident was declared. Police cordoned off the area as authorities began working to establish the circumstances of the crash.

Structural engineers are set to evaluate the building to determine whether it is at risk of collapse.
