A 16-year-old boy has died following a serious collision on Kingsway in Burnage, Manchester, on Friday evening. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the tragedy and are appealing for witnesses.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:40pm on January 2, when a Seat Ibiza struck a pedestrian crossing the road. The teenager sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later died.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the crash and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is leading the investigation.
Detective Constable Antrobus of the SCIU said: “This is a tragic incident, and my thoughts are first and foremost with the family of the young boy who sadly lost his life. They are being supported by specialist officers, and we would ask that their privacy is respected as they grieve.”
