A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after being struck by a car in Spennymoor, County Durham. The collision happened on St Andrew's Lane at approximately 3pm on Sunday, July 26.
Emergency response
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the scene. The pedestrian was transported by road ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment. The driver of the car is not believed to have been injured.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: 'We were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian in St Andrew's Lane, Spennymoor, at 3pm yesterday, July 26. The pedestrian, a 32-year-old man, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car isn't believed to have been hurt.'
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said: 'We received a call just before 3pm today (July 26) for a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car on St Andrews Lane in Spennymoor. We dispatched an ambulance crew, a clinical team leader and the air ambulance and treated one patient with head injuries before taking them to hospital by road with a doctor on board.'
A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) said: 'On Sunday our critical care team was activated at 3.09pm to reports of a road traffic collision in Spennymoor. We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 3.25pm. Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient. The patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.'
