The M4 has been closed westbound between junction 15 (Badbury) and junction 16 (Swindon) after a lorry fire broke out on the motorway.
National Highways confirmed the closure in an update on X, stating that Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were leading the response at the scene.
Traffic at a standstill
Motorway camera footage shows traffic at a complete standstill on the busy stretch of motorway. National Highways reported delays of around 60 minutes and approximately 4 miles of congestion on the approach.
In its post, National Highways warned drivers: "The #M4 has closed westbound between J15 #Badbury and J16 #Swindon due to a HGV fire. @DWFireRescue are leading the response at scene. Delays of 60 minutes and approx. 4 miles of congestion on approach. Please allow extra time if you're travelling in the area."
