A four-month-old baby was thrown from a car during a high-speed police chase in Arkansas, but miraculously escaped with minor injuries. The incident occurred on May 24 in Camden, Arkansas, when the driver of an SUV allegedly fled from officers at speeds exceeding 100mph.
According to Arkansas State Police, officers attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver continued, reaching speeds of more than 100mph as he left Camden and headed south on Ouachita County Road 47. The SUV crashed and overturned after the driver lost control, going through a yard and striking a pole.
Four children, all under the age of six, were inside the vehicle. While the baby was ejected during the crash, the three other children were safely removed from the wreckage and taken away from live power lines. All four children were taken by ambulance to Ouachita County Medical Center and treated for minor injuries. The mother of the children was notified and attended the hospital.
The driver, 28-year-old Tyrice Fletcher, was arrested and is being held at the Ouachita County Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, including fleeing, four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, and several gun- and drug-related charges.
Capt Rick Neill said in a statement: 'The suspect's decisions placed four innocent victims in harm's way. At any point during the pursuit, the suspect could have stopped. He refused to stop. The danger created that day was the direct result of the suspect's actions.'
