Police have closed part of Glasgow city centre after a crash this morning, with the public urged to avoid the area while investigations are carried out.
Officers were called to Glassford Street following reports of the crash, according to Glasgow Live. The street is closed from The Trongate to Ingram Street, and there is no access to Royal Exchange Square, which is shut from the Buchanan Street, North Court Lane and Queen Street entrances.
Road closures in place
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Please be aware of two road closures in the city centre today, Sunday, 4 October, 2026.
“Glassford Street from The Trongate to Ingram Street is closed following a road crash. Motorists are asked to seek an alternative route.
“There is no access to Royal Exchange Square – it is closed from the Buchanan Street, North Court Lane and Queen Street entrances. Please avoid the area.”
Council advice for drivers
A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “Glassford Street between Ingram Street and Wilson Street is currently closed to traffic due to a Police incident.
“Road users are advised to avoid the area and consider alternative routes. Delays to be expected.”
