Dashcam footage captured the terrifying moment a car rolled onto its roof after two vehicles smashed into each other on the A13, near Rainham, Kent. Three people were taken to hospital following the collision on Tuesday, but the Met Police confirmed there were no serious injuries.
The video, recorded by driver Anando Da Silva, 52, shows a blue car clipping his vehicle before veering into the path of a red car in the left lane. The red car then flipped onto its roof as both cars rammed into the outer barrier of the motorway.
Driver's account of the crash
Mr Da Silva, who was returning home from the hospital with his 13-year-old disabled son, described the incident. He said: "I was coming home from the hospital. I have a disabled child with SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) and every now and then we have to go to the hospital.
"On our way back home we were driving on the A13 and from nowhere a car crashed into our left side and then into another car. There was a massive accident between those two cars."
Emergency response and injuries
He added: "As I left the scene I saw they had to cut half the car to get to one of the people." The driver said he suffered minor back and neck injuries, adding: "I just had a minor back and neck injury. I will be doing some treatments in the coming days and weeks to determine if there is more to it than the pain I am feeling. My kid is 13 and he was a bit scared."
The Mirror has approached the Metropolitan Police for an update.
