A man who broke into a teenager's home and raped her as she slept has been jailed for 10 years. Stefan Dobandi, 20, of no fixed address, admitted raping one girl twice and making indecent images of her in May last year, and raping a second teenager the following month.
Sentencing at Mold Crown Court, Judge Rhys Rowlands described the crimes as 'totally depraved behaviour' and assessed Dobandi as a 'high risk' of reoffending, displaying 'arrogance' with little 'understanding or remorse'. The judge imposed an extended sentence of 10 years in custody, with an additional two years on licence.
Prosecutor Karl Scholz told the court both victims were asleep at the time of the attacks, which took place in the Flintshire area of north-east Wales. Dobandi entered one victim's home at night while she slept and raped her in June last year. She woke to find herself partly undressed with Dobandi next to her in bed. Further attacks from May were uncovered after police examined Dobandi's phone.
In personal statements read to the court, the first victim said the offences made her feel 'anxious and shocked' and made it difficult to trust people. The second victim said she 'slept and cried' when the investigation started and struggled to eat.
Detective Constable Guto Hughes of North Wales Police said: 'Dobandi has proved himself to be a predator who is a danger to women. There is no doubt these horrific offences will likely impact his victims forever.' Dobandi must serve two-thirds of his sentence before being considered for release, and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and restraining order indefinitely.
