Two people, including a 16-year-old girl, were detained by police after a crash in Bury town centre involving a car reportedly taken without consent. The incident took place on Market Street at around 8.20pm on Tuesday evening (September 29).
Officers attended the scene of a collision involving a Vauxhall Corsa. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that two people were detained but no arrests were made. It is understood that one of those involved was a 16-year-old girl.
Large police presence
A significant police presence was seen in the area following the crash, including undercover police cars and ambulances. A witness told the Manchester Evening News: "Outside Robert Peel in Bury at the moment there’s a lot of police cars, undercover police cars, ambulances. The road at the swimming baths all cars are being turned round."
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, according to police.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 8.20pm last night, officers responded to reports of a collision on Market Street, Bury. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. No arrests were made, but two people were detained and will be spoken to in due course."
