Alison Hammond Reveals Terrifying Burglary Experience on This Morning
Alison Hammond Shares Burglary Horror on This Morning

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has shared a chilling account of a burglary at her first family home, where the intruder left behind a knife, during a discussion on the ITV daytime show. The revelation came as hosts debated alarming new statistics indicating that police in Britain failed to solve 92% of burglaries last year, with Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp criticising the government for what he described as the effective decriminalisation of break-ins.

Shocking Police Figures on Burglary Cases

According to recent data, not a single burglary case was solved during 2025 in almost one-third of the country, with arrests made in less than 10% of the nearly 200,000 reported incidents. Police identified suspects in 27,500 cases but failed to prosecute, while 400 cases were deemed "not in the public interest." A report highlighted London as a hotspot for burglaries, with seven of the top ten most affected regions located in the capital.

Alison Hammond's Personal Burglary Ordeal

Reacting to these statistics, Alison Hammond, 51, recounted her own horrifying experience. She described the burglary at her first home, which she purchased to create a safe space for herself and her son Aidan, now 21. "It's a massive violation," she told co-host Dermot O'Leary. "I can remember my very first house that I got... I put so much love into making this a home and everything."

Alison explained that she had not yet moved in fully but had installed new carpets and furnishings. The burglars entered through a window, leaving a knife in the living room and footprints across her brand-new carpet as they scoped the property. Neighbours alerted her to the break-in, which left her feeling unsafe and unhappy in the house. "I never felt happy there, I never felt safe there again, and I wanted to get rid of the house," she said. After a year, she eventually sold the property, describing the experience as "terrifying."

Parenting Challenges and Personal Reflections

This is not the first time Alison has opened up about personal struggles on the show. In a separate segment, she discussed the "absolutely traumatising" moment when her son Aidan, as a baby, fell off a bed while she briefly stepped away. She shared this story in response to actor Rupert Grint's comments on the isolating and traumatising aspects of fatherhood. Alison, who raised Aidan as a single mother after splitting from his father Noureddine Boufaied in 2005, emphasised that such incidents are common among parents.

She reflected on her journey as a single mother, stating, "I felt that failure with my son's dad when we broke up, but he moved on and has three other kids now, and they are part of our life." This candid discussion highlighted the broader themes of resilience and family dynamics that often feature on the programme.

Viewer Reactions to Recent Interviews

Alison's recent Valentine's Day-themed interview with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth also sparked divided reactions among viewers. Some criticised the interaction as "cringe," while others found it entertaining. During the interview, Chris joked about outdoing a previous "date" setup Alison had with Hugh Jackman, bringing his own drinks and snacks. Alison's playful banter, including a joke about Hugh being "very big down under," added to the lively exchange.

This Morning, which airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX, continues to blend hard-hitting news discussions with celebrity interviews and personal stories, engaging audiences with a mix of serious topics and lighter entertainment.
