UK-Iranian man arrested in RAF Fairford terror probe

A dual UK-Iranian national has been arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts as part of the investigation into activity near RAF Fairford.

The 27-year-old man was arrested in Westminster, London, on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, Counter Terrorism Policing said.

Sixth arrest in ongoing probe

A second man aged 26, who is a UK national, has been questioned under caution. Two properties in the area have also been searched.

Five men, all in their 20s, remain on police bail after they were arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and terrorism near the military base in Gloucestershire on Sunday.

Investigation 'hugely complex'

Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing Vicki Evans said: "The investigation into circumstances surrounding events in Gloucestershire is hugely complex, and our specialist teams are interrogating multiple lines of enquiry.

"As we've made clear, we're looking at all possible angles - including possible foreign state involvement. I'd like to thank the public for their continued support and patience whilst we work through this investigation."
