Trump Notifies Congress of War with Iran, Strikes Pickaxe Mountain

President Donald Trump has formally notified Congress that the United States is at war with Iran, initiating fresh military action in the region. The notification came on Monday evening, July 13 Eastern Time, as Trump warned, 'Tell the Iranians we're coming.'

New Wave of Strikes

The latest strikes occur less than a week after Trump declared the previous ceasefire, which was intended to allow both sides a year to negotiate a lasting peace, was 'over'. According to CNN, the President stated, 'We're going to take out Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians we're coming.'

Strait of Hormuz Blockade and Fee

Trump also announced that the Strait of Hormuz 'will remain open, with or without Iran' by installing a blockade on Iranian ships or their customers. He imposed a 20 per cent fee on 'all cargo shipped, for any and all costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the world'.
