Counter-terror police investigating a suspected plot near RAF Fairford recovered a quantity of petrol from three vans, but found no improvised explosive devices, the head of Counter Terrorism Policing has said.
Police swoop in Whelford
Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of Counter Terrorism Policing, confirmed the discovery. Police swooped on three vans and arrested five men in the village of Whelford, near the RAF base.
The arrests took place over the weekend, with the operation drawing a significant police presence to the area.
No explosives found
According to Taylor, no improvised explosive devices were found in the three vans. However, a quantity of petrol was recovered from the vehicles.
The investigation continues, with the five men remaining in custody.
