Sky News halted its live Labour conference coverage for a major breaking alert at RAF Fairford, cutting off Labour Chancellor John Healey mid-appearance. The programme switched to news that the five men arrested over a suspected terrorism incident are UK nationals who resided in London.

The show cut back to the studio, where a presenter explained: “They are not people who have come in from abroad, they are UK nationals. Five individuals all based in London, so they’ve obviously made the trip there in those vans. There has been a lot of speculation about this, [and police are asking] that they be allowed to get on with their work and try and work out the motivations of these individuals.”
Complex Investigation Underway
“Obviously there has been speculation around links to Iran, or whether it was Iranian-inspired or even an Iranian-backed operation, but that has not been given to us in this statement,” the presenter added.
“They are saying, though, that this is a very complex investigation and that a number of resources, including military assets, have been deployed at the location.”
Evacuations and Public Thanks
“They thank the public for their ongoing support and thank the residents of those 45 homes that have been evacuated for being understanding around the disruption that has been caused,” the presenter said.
