Hollyoaks viewers are speculating over the identity of Imran Maalik's (Ijaz Rana) mystery ex girlfriend, who made a surprise appearance at his door after his confession video revealed he had loved someone before Leah Barnes (Charlotte Alex Riley).
Imran was among several characters who took part in Leah's experiment last month, recording their deepest secrets as part of a series of online video confession diaries. Leah, who was engaged to Imran at the time, decided not to watch her fiancé's confession, believing she already knew everything there was to know about him.
Imran, however, confessed to having been in love with someone else before Leah, making it clear that this person was the woman of his dreams who ultimately encouraged him to make a go of things with Leah.
Wedding disaster and confession fallout
When Leah discovered that Imran had deleted his confession, she quizzed him about it on the morning of their nuptials, with Imran revealing everything. Leah wasn't too worried about his ex and was still keen to get wed.
However, the wedding ended in disaster when Leah's affair with Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer) was exposed to all those in attendance – by none other than Imran himself, who had found recorded footage of her kissing his best man one day before the ceremony.
Leah pleaded with Imran to give her another chance but he refused and, as he revisited his past once more, he began to think about his ex – the person he'd fallen for prior to Leah. And to his shock, the woman in question arrived at his door soon after.
Fan speculation runs wild
'I've just been talking about you,' he said, reeling. Viewers did not see the identity of this mystery ex and thus speculation has been rife over who it is – with some convinced that it's not only a past character but someone very unexpected.
'This actually has me sitting on the edge of my seat!,' said Instagram user follyoaks. 'WHO IS IT ?!,' while jessikita_88 added: 'Who the mystery person !!!?? I need to knoooooow!'.
'Why do I think it's going to be a man!,' said ami_t_84, which is a sentiment echoed by hollyoaksimagearchive, who wrote: 'Why did I think it was a guy for some reason?'
America connection sparks theories
When Hollyoaks shared Imran's confession video to their socials, star Ijaz Rana simply responded with eye emojis. Given that Imran was in America when he met up with Leah, fans are working overtime trying to work out who else could've been living there around the same time.
'Surely it's not Cindy???,' said John. 'Didn't she live with Mandy when she moved to America', while Abbie added: 'Cindy? America?' Other names including Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) and Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) – who stages a return in upcoming scenes – were mentioned by viewers as speculation continues.
