GB News halted its coverage as Reform UK leader Nigel Farage spoke out following the suspected bomb scare at RAF Fairford. The incident began in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 27, when a local resident alerted police after spotting three suspicious white vans and masked individuals near the military base.
Armed police arrived and intercepted the vehicles before arresting five British men in their 20s under the Explosives Act. A 400-metre security cordon was declared, and roughly 85 households in the nearby village of Whelford were evacuated as a precaution. Armed disposal specialists deployed robotic equipment to examine the vehicles while the five men were taken into custody.
Suspects released on bail
The suspects were later further arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act, and all have since been released on bail. Farage, speaking on GB News, said he had been warning officials about such a threat for some time.
He told viewers: "I am not in the least bit surprised by it. I have been arguing and warning for years that the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) and other subordinates that it has are active in this country and should have been prescribed many, many years ago."
Farage's warning on Channel crossings
Farage referenced his earlier statements in Parliament, saying: "And then, earlier on this year, I raised in Prime Minister's Questions and with the Home Secretary the fact that I was given intelligence that the Iranian regime was using the small boats in the Channel to get their operatives into Britain, spies and potential terrorists."
The politician chuckled: "For my trouble, I had the Labour backbenchers shouting 'Shame on you'." He continued: "Now, I also know that over the last few months, there's been a massive intelligence operation going on led by counter terrorism looking at Iranian nationals living in Britain because they fear the bomb plot. And the proof of that is, of course, the President of America saying, 'We knew this was coming'."

I have said repeatedly that we have to declare a national emergency when it comes to the Channel, when it comes to illegal immigration. We've become a soft touch for potential terrorists to come into Britain."
