Fairford police acted 8 hours after cricket warning in terror probe

Six people have been arrested and released on bail in connection with a suspected terror plot at RAF Fairford, after police reportedly acted eight hours following a warning that halted a cricket game near the base.

Timeline of events

A family playing cricket near RAF Fairford were told by armed guards to move away because the area "wasn't safe" at 4:30pm last Saturday, according to The Sun. The Gloucestershire base was said to be on high alert after intelligence suggested a plot was possible.

It was not until 12:45am on Sunday that a 999 call was made about masked men in a van nearby. Six people have since been arrested and released on bail.
