Berlin Pride suspect killed in police shootout in Spandau

The suspect in the Berlin Pride attack has been shot and killed during a police operation at a garden complex following an alleged Islamist terror attack. According to Bild, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, opened fire on officers, and police returned fire. The shootout took place in the Berlin district of Spandau.

Interior Senator responds

Berlin's Interior Senator Iris Spranger said: "I am grateful to the security authorities for finding the attacker so quickly. That is a tremendous achievement."

Suspect's background

Ballout was a German citizen of Lebanese background who was known to police and had tried to join the Islamic State group.
