Salford Man Jailed for Sexual Assaults on Two Women

A Salford man has been sentenced to prison after sexually assaulting two women during separate incidents in Warrington town centre.

Jail Sentence and Charges

Raigal Ahmad, 35, of Gerald Road in Salford, received a 14-month jail term at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, 9 June. He had previously admitted two counts of sexual assault but was found not guilty of assault by beating.

First Incident: July 2024

The first assault occurred on 19 July 2024 in a nightclub, where Ahmad approached a 41-year-old woman and began touching her inappropriately without consent. Although the victim moved his hands away, Ahmad persisted.

Second Incident: January 2025

The second incident took place on 26 January 2025 at a bar. Ahmad was seen loitering outside and making advances toward a group of women. Despite being repeatedly told to leave them alone, he followed them to a nearby takeaway. Once inside, he touched the bottom of a 36-year-old woman. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, prompting police attendance. Ahmad was arrested while attempting to leave in a taxi.

During police interviews, Ahmad denied following the women, claiming it was a coincidence. He admitted touching the 36-year-old woman but said it was playful. For the nightclub incident, he initially denied any wrongdoing but changed his plea to guilty in May 2026.

In addition to imprisonment, Ahmad must register as a sex offender for 10 years and is subject to a five-year restraining order protecting both victims.

Detective Constable Phillip Jackson of CID Reactive North said: “It is a basic human decency that when someone asks to be left alone and does not give you their consent to touch them, you respect their needs. Raigal Ahmad, however, ignored this and repeatedly made unwanted, predatory advances towards two women who were simply wanting to enjoy a night out with friends. We treat all instances of sexual assault with the utmost seriousness, placing the needs and wellbeing of victims at the centre of all investigations. Anyone who comes to us with concerns such as serious as those exhibited above will be listened to and treated with respect. No matter how small the claim may seem, we will do all we can to get you the justice you deserve.”
