Monster Made Girl, 14, Carve His Initials Into Her Leg in Horrific Abuse Case
Paedophile made girl carve initials in leg jailed 18 years

A dangerous predator who subjected a vulnerable 14-year-old girl to unimaginable torment, including forcing her to carve his initials into her own leg, has been removed from the streets of Manchester for 18 years.

The Horrific Ordeal

Michael Patrick Dermott, 32, systematically groomed and abused the teenager in a campaign of terror that lasted months. The court heard how the manipulative offender convinced the child she was in a relationship with him, before subjecting her to escalating physical and psychological torture.

The most disturbing aspect of the case emerged when Dermott handed the girl a blade and ordered her to cut his initials 'M D' into her own thigh. The vulnerable victim, completely under his control, complied with the sickening demand.

A Pattern of Predatory Behaviour

Manchester Crown Court was told how Dermott's abuse wasn't limited to this single horrific act. The paedophile:

  • Repeatedly physically assaulted the child
  • Subjected her to intense psychological manipulation
  • Maintained complete control through fear and coercion
  • Showed no remorse for his calculated actions

Justice Served

Following a thorough investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Child Protection Team, Dermott was found guilty of multiple offences including sexual activity with a child and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Judge Nicholas Dean KC delivered a powerful statement during sentencing, emphasising the profound psychological damage inflicted upon the young victim. The 18-year sentence reflects the severity of the crimes and the ongoing risk Dermott poses to society.

Protecting Our Children

This case serves as a stark reminder of the predators operating within our communities. Detective Inspector James Lister, who led the investigation, praised the victim's incredible bravery in coming forward and enduring the trial process.

"This was a complex and distressing case involving the systematic grooming and abuse of a vulnerable child," DI Lister stated. "The sentence reflects the gravity of Dermott's crimes and ensures he cannot harm another child for a significant period."
