Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man was assaulted and sexually assaulted in Macclesfield, Cheshire, early on Tuesday, August 11. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and remains there, Cheshire Constabulary said.
Incident on Churchill Way
At 1.07am on Tuesday, police were called to reports of an incident on Churchill Way, in the town centre of Macclesfield. It was reported that a man had been assaulted and sexually assaulted, and he was taken to hospital by ambulance. He remains in hospital at this time, Cheshire Constabulary added.
Appeal for witnesses
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. Anyone who was in the area around Churchill Way and Sunderland Street between 10.40pm on Monday, August 10, and 1.10am on Tuesday, August 11, is asked to come forward if they saw anything suspicious or relevant. Drivers are being urged to check their dashcam footage for anything that may have been captured during that time.
Detective Inspector Claire Miles said: "An investigation is currently ongoing, and we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious or relevant in the area before or after it is believed to have occurred. We would also ask anyone who was driving in Macclesfield town centre between 10.40pm on Monday 10 August and 1.10am on Tuesday 11 August, to please check their dashcam footage to see if anything relevant has been captured. This includes near to the Churchill Way and Sunderland Street area."
