Egyptian National Charged Following Bournemouth Woodland Attack
A 24-year-old Egyptian man is now facing charges after a woman was raped in Bournemouth. Mohammed Fathi Eltbie stands accused of attacking a woman in her 30s within woodland off Maxwell Road.
Police Response and Investigation Details
Dorset Police received a report of a rape at 9.18pm on Wednesday. Officers swiftly attended the scene and subsequently arrested Eltbie. The accused did not state his self-defined ethnicity during the booking process.
As part of their investigation, authorities established a cordon at Winton Recreation Ground. This allowed forensic teams to meticulously examine an area of woodland near Maxwell Road, which was cornered off by police.
Ongoing Support and Public Appeal
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, confirmed that continuous support is being provided to the victim. He stated, 'We have continued to provide support to the victim and she has been updated with this latest development.'
With the matter now subject to active court proceedings, Detective Inspector Jenkins issued a firm appeal to the public.
