Violent Bully Jack Bell Jailed for Threatening to Kill Partner
Jack Bell Jailed for Threatening to Chop Up Partner

Jack Bell, a 23-year-old from Porth, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for a campaign of brutal assaults against his partner and the mother of his two children. At Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Recorder Robin Rouch described Bell as a 'violent bully' who threatened to 'kill her, chop her up, and burn her' during a terrifying attack in December 2025.

First Assault in 2023

The court heard that Bell first assaulted his partner in 2023 when she woke him up to help with their baby. Annoyed, he punched a television. When the victim pushed him away, he punched her multiple times in the face, leaving her with severe bruising to her eyes and cheeks, which she described as 'black and blue'.

More Serious Attack on December 15, 2025

Prosecutor Pamela Kaiga outlined a more serious assault on December 15, 2025. Bell became annoyed after the victim comforted their upset child early in the morning. He charged at her, grabbed her hair, and punched her repeatedly to the back of the head, causing throbbing pain and dizziness. When she asked him to leave, he called her 'nothing' and 'worthless,' pretended to talk on the phone saying 'She's got issues,' followed her around the house, spat at her, forced open a door she tried to close, and destroyed a TV remote.

The victim pleaded for him to leave, but he continued his aggression. She went into the bathroom and shouted out the window for help. Bell responded: 'If you don't be quiet I'll kill you, chop up your body and burn you. I know people who can make you disappear without a trace.' He then punched and slapped her, told her to 'drink bleach,' and said 'the world would be better off' without her.

When she returned to the bathroom to scream for help, Bell kicked her legs, causing her to fall to the floor. He screamed verbal abuse while kicking her, saying: 'Shut up, if the police come I'll kill you.' He then took her phone, snapped the battery, and threw it on the floor. Bell went to the kitchen, picked up a knife, held it in the air, and threatened to 'stab the victim in the leg' and 'slice her' if she wasn't quiet. He then placed the knife back in a drawer and told her he would be 'happy to do prison for her.'

Neighbor Calls Police

A neighbor called the police and checked on the victim, whose face was red and swollen, with two large lumps on her head and bruising all over her body. Bell was arrested and initially claimed self-defense. He later pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of criminal damage. The court noted a previous conviction for possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

Victim Impact Statement

In a victim personal statement read by Ms. Kaiga, the victim said: 'I had severe headaches and dizziness as a result of being hit to the head. I still have lumps to the back of my head because of the incident and they are still painful to touch. I attended the hospital on the day and they told me to keep an eye on my injuries. I had bruises on my body which were painful and the bruises stayed on my body for around a week.'

She added: 'When I am inside the flat it will make me anxious and on edge. I feel vulnerable and worry that when he's released he will hurt me and do something to me which I am terrified of, and believe if he had bail conditions he would break them. I've stopped leaving the flat because of this incident as I don't want to see people... I am waking up scared and worried. I am definitely more anxious since the incident and my family have been worried about my wellbeing as they did not know the extent of the abuse I received from Jack.... I'd like a restraining order as I do not want him to contact me anymore.'

Sentencing

In mitigation, barrister Matthew Thomas said Bell was an 'immature young man' who 'needed to grow up' and had served the equivalent of a year on remand, expressing a desire to have a relationship with his children. Recorder Robin Rouch sentenced Bell to 32 months imprisonment and imposed a restraining order for 15 years, stating: 'This was an appalling and violent incident which must have been frightening and distressing for the complainant... You are, in short, a violent bully.'
