Girl, 10, Sexually Abused and Killed Had STD, Autopsy Reveals

A 10-year-old girl who was allegedly raped, murdered and dismembered by her mother's boyfriend was infected with a sexually transmitted disease, according to a newly released autopsy report.

Victoria Martens died from strangulation and was suffering from human papillomavirus (HPV), pathologists said, providing evidence of sexual abuse before her death in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Her dismembered body was found in a burning blanket in a bath by police responding to a noise complaint on her 10th birthday, 24 August 2016. Her mother Michelle Martens, 35, boyfriend Fabian Gonzales, 32, and cousin Jessica Kelley, 32, have been charged with murder and rape.

Ms Martens allegedly admitted watching the two men kill Victoria before having sex with Mr Gonzales 20 minutes later, and also admitted advertising her daughter online to paedophiles, police said.

The autopsy report, detailed by the Albuquerque Journal, also found alcohol in Victoria's system, not methamphetamine as claimed by her mother. The trio remain in jail awaiting trial scheduled for October.
