A Florida nurse has pleaded guilty to sexually battering her teenage step-son in a case that has sent shockwaves through her community. Jessica Hoadley, 35, accepted a plea deal this week, avoiding a potential life sentence in a trial.
The disturbing events came to light when the young victim confided in a friend about the abuse, which allegedly occurred over a period of time. The friend subsequently informed a school resource officer, triggering an immediate investigation by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
During the investigation, the victim disclosed that Hoadley, a licensed practical nurse, had initiated sexual contact with him. In a crucial piece of evidence, he provided investigators with a photograph of a handwritten note, allegedly from Hoadley, which read: "I'm horny."
Hoadley was initially arrested in August 2023 and charged with sexual battery on a minor between the ages of 12 and 18, a first-degree felony. She was subsequently released on a $10,000 bond.
As part of her plea agreement, Hoadley pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of attempted sexual battery. A judge has sentenced her to 10 years of sex offender probation. The terms of her probation are strict and include:
- No contact with the victim or any minors
- Mandatory registration as a sex offender
- Completion of a psychosexual evaluation
- Adherence to any recommended treatment
The case has raised serious questions about trust and safety, particularly given Hoadley's position as a healthcare professional. The sentencing brings a close to a deeply troubling chapter for the family involved.
