Errol Musk, the 79-year-old father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren since 1993, according to a New York Times report published on Tuesday.
The report cites personal letters, emails, and interviews with family members, alleging that Errol Musk maintains a powerful grip over much of the family. The earliest accusation dates back to 1993, when his four-year-old stepdaughter told relatives he had touched her at the family home. A decade later, the same stepdaughter said she caught him sniffing her dirty underwear. Some family members have also accused him of abusing two of his daughters and a stepson.
Three separate law enforcement investigations were opened, according to police and court records. Two inquiries ended without action, while the outcome of the third remains unclear. Errol Musk dismissed the allegations as 'nonsense' and 'false', accusing family members of putting children up to say false things and attempting to extort Elon, his eldest son.
Elon Musk has rarely commented on his father but described a difficult relationship in a 2017 Rolling Stone interview, saying his father had done 'almost every evil thing you could possibly think of'. He added that his father would 'plan evil' with a carefully thought-out plan.
Elon Musk did not respond to the New York Times' requests for comment.
