BA pilot jailed for raping 12-year-old girl from Omegle

Kwame Yeboah, a 30-year-old former British Airways first officer, has been sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl he met on the chatroom Omegle. Yeboah, who once flew to destinations including New York, Istanbul, and Oslo, used his Instagram account to groom the victim before driving 220 miles from his home in Reading to meet her on the Wirral.

Grooming and manipulation

The court heard that Yeboah first encountered the girl on Omegle, where she initially claimed to be 17. However, it quickly became apparent she was younger; she sent pictures of herself in school uniform, discussed exams, and mentioned being grounded by her parents. Despite this, Yeboah continued to send explicit images and engage in sexual video calls. When the girl hesitated to meet, he resorted to emotional blackmail, telling her: "I can't do this no more, because you're not meeting me. I can't call, because it makes me sad, because I can't see you."

The assault

Three months after their first chat, Yeboah booked a hotel in Merseyside and drove to meet the girl. She climbed out of her bedroom window to meet him. After driving around, Yeboah stopped his car and raped her twice, once after being disturbed by another vehicle. The crimes came to light when the girl went missing following an argument with her mother, who learned the truth from a friend.

Sentencing and impact

Yeboah pleaded guilty to three counts of rape of a child under 13 and one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration. Judge Gary Woodhall noted the significant age gap and Yeboah's grooming behavior, stating: "You sought to manipulate or emotionally blackmail your victim." The victim described how the abuse "changed every part of her life," causing sleep and eating difficulties, anxiety, and problems concentrating at school. Yeboah was also given a restraining order for 15 years and placed on the sex offenders' register for life. British Airways confirmed he is no longer employed by the airline.
