A 45-year-old Tennessee man has been sentenced to 92 years in prison for repeatedly raping his daughter over a six-year period, beginning when she was just 10 years old. The abuse was uncovered after the victim gave birth to a baby girl who required medical treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Abuse Discovered Through Infant's Health Issues
Genetic testing on the infant revealed consanguinity, prompting the victim to disclose to hospital staff and law enforcement that her father was the child’s father. Prosecutors stated the abuse occurred between 2015 and 2020, when the victim was aged 10 to 16.
The man was found guilty on April 21 of two counts of rape of a child, three counts of rape, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and incest. On June 29, Judge Clayburn Peeples at Haywood County Circuit Court sentenced him to 92 years in prison, to be served at 100%.
Prosecutor's Statement
District Attorney Frederick Agee said: "We appreciate Judge Peeples recognizing how egregious this act was by sentencing the defendant to the maximum sentence of 92 years to serve at 100%. Our office has again successfully removed a violent offender from our community, and we will continue to focus on offenders that pose a threat; especially to our most vulnerable citizens such as the Victim in this case."
He added: "Please pray for the victim so she may one day find peace and comfort after being subjected to unimaginable sexual abuse."
